Sustainable Peer-Learning Platform

A sustainable online after-class peer-learning platform using AI and blockchain (matching, knowledge management, points). Co-authored; eLearn 2024, Singapore.

A co-authored online after-class peer-learning platform built around sustainable learning — a peer-learning mechanism that lowers operating cost while students benefit from the reciprocal effect of teaching and learning.

Abstract

This paper presents an online after-class learning platform that emphasizes sustainable learning, describing its underlying design principles, technical architecture, and implementation methods. Although initially designed for undergraduate students studied in computer science, the platform’s functions and mechanisms have the potential to benefit students across various fields. The platform’s design ingeniously utilizes a peer learning mechanism to reduce operating expense, achieving sustainability while enabling students to benefit from the reciprocal learning effect of teaching and learning. The development of this platform also incorporates the latest artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies to implement features such as a matching system, knowledge management system, and points mechanism. These technologies ensure the efficient operation of the peer learning mechanism, thereby enhancing overall learning effectiveness. The platform is currently under development, with the hope that once completed, it will have a positive impact on the field of E-learning.

Highlights

  • A peer-learning mechanism (“one for all, all for one”) that reduces tutoring manpower and cost while improving outcomes through reciprocal teaching and learning.
  • Integrates artificial intelligence and blockchain to power a matching system, a knowledge-management system, and a points mechanism.
  • Designed first for CS undergraduates but extensible to other fields; aligned with SDG #4 (Quality Education).
